Program Description

The B.Voc / B.A. in Filmmaking is a 3-year degree program designed for students who want to build careers in cinema, OTT, advertising, digital media and content creation. 

The program trains students across the complete filmmaking process — story development, screenwriting, direction, acting, cinematography, lighting, editing, sound, production planning and final presentation. 

Students learn through real projects, studio practice, live shoots, guest faculty sessions, film festival exposure and portfolio-building assignments.

Specialisations with Portfolio Building

Screenwriting

Story structure, screenplay format, character development, dialogue, ad film writing and vertical drama writing — with a writing portfolio of scripts, scenes and project pitches.

Film Direction

Visual storytelling, scene design, actor direction, shot division, blocking and shoot execution — with a direction portfolio of staged scenes, short films and visual treatments.

Cinematography

Camera language, composition, lenses, lighting, visual mood, movement and practical shooting — with a visual portfolio of frames, scenes and shot-based projects.

Editing

Story rhythm, pacing, continuity, trailer cuts, vertical drama edits and post-production workflow — with an editing portfolio of films, promos, cuts and finished projects.

Students get practical exposure to film sets, studio spaces, camera, lighting, sound, editing and real production environments. Website section can carry images of film sets, podcast studio, editing room and student shoots to visually communicate the practical nature of the course.

  1. Live Projects with Production Houses

Production houses, media teams, brands and institutional partners may collaborate with the university for real projects, giving students exposure to professional production workflows.

  1. Rungotsav Film & Media Festival

Students get a platform to showcase their films and media projects through Rungotsav, Rungta University’s student-focused film and media festival.

  1. Portfolio Before Graduation

By the end of the program, students build a creative portfolio across films, scripts, edits, vertical dramas, podcasts, ads and production-based projects.
