Program Description

The department at GD Rungta College of Science & Technology,  offers B.Sc. Biotechnology with Botany, a dual core programme designed to develop a scientific attitude and an interest towards the modern areas of biotechnology in particular and life science in general. It is aimed to get an aptitude in Biotechnology without losing the importance of basic science such as botany. 

The programme consists of Language courses, Foundation courses, biotechnology as core course and Botany as vocational core. The course focuses on various spheres of Biotechnology with a special reference and detailed knowledge in plant taxonomy, anatomy, physiology, cytology and genetics. The course offers basic knowledge in algae, fungia, Microbiology and Biochemistry. The students are exposed to different laboratory equipment and are capable of handling them confidently. The highly qualified faculty team ensures that the students are well equipped to prepare scientific papers dealing with various problems pertaining to their relative domain. 

The various courses in the programme is aimed to develop proficiency in theory as well as practical experiments in laboratory along with the collection and interpretation and presentation of scientific data in proper manner. Well-equipped labs at Rungta adds adequate practical knowledge too.

The department ensures that students who pass out successfully, would have an urge to continue higher studies in Biotechnology or Botany and contribute significantly in its development. The students of Rungta are positioned in various research institutes, Biotech companies, pharmaceutical companies, hospitals and laboratories.

Apart from the regular classes, various Personality Development and Aptitude Training Programmes are conducted regularly focussing on the wholistic development of students by the department.
